Ben & Jerry’s will celebrate its iconic Free Cone Day on April 8, 2025, giving away free ice cream at Scoop Shops around the world. From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., customers can visit participating locations to receive a free scoop as part of the brand’s longstanding tradition of appreciation.
The event, now recognized globally, began in 1979 in Burlington, Vermont, when Ben & Jerry’s hosted the first Free Cone Day as a thank-you to the community for their support during its first year of business. Since then, the event has grown significantly, with highlights including national unification of the celebration in the United States in 1993 and the first truly global Free Cone Day in 2000.
In recent years, the event has continued to evolve, incorporating technology to connect fans around the world. From Saratoga Springs becoming the first town outside Vermont to host the event in 1984, to over 1 million scoops distributed worldwide in 2015, Free Cone Day has become a beloved annual tradition.
The 2025 edition promises to deliver another memorable experience with free scoops, global participation, and a celebration of the community spirit that has fueled Ben & Jerry’s success for decades.
